Surprise [:O] '07 660 Camo - Overheating & Stalling
Reply Quote
I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems.
My 2007 660 Rhino has problems with overheating pretty much since day 1. We thought it was a plugged rad, air flow etc but towards the end of the season (fall of '07) we cleaned it meticulously, installed Engine Ice, replaced fuel filter, spark plug, air cleaner and still, after riding 1/2 hr to an hour it would either stall and backfire or overheat.
I had it back to the dealer and they checked the eblts, flushed the Rad, oil/lube/filter etc and even replaced the fuel pump as they said Yamaha issued a recall notice and I have extended warranty.
We took it out yesterday (in Central Alberta) in -4 degree weather and low and behold; 3.5 kilometers down a gravel road and it stalls! We drive on and drive up a cut line at about a 30 degree incline and it overheats AGAIN. By overheating I mean the thing is boiling and the engine ice is pouring out onto the ground. My buddy and I even felt like the speedometer was saying 30km/hr when we doing more like 10km/hr!
Needless to say it's back at the dealership. Anyone else have similar troubles or did I just get a lemon? Thanks for any replies.

Sounds like internal engine problems, Probably put together on Saki friday !
Lemmon is the word-- Don't know about up there, But here in Texas 3 times back to the dealer and you can start requesting A new one per the Lemmon law. If they don't cooperate that way, Jam A stick between the pedal and the seat and let that baby rev til she locks up... New motor.. Problem solved.

Could be a few things. I would definetely check for radiator issues on it first for flow issues. If that is not it replace the CDI or have the shop try a different one. The repair manual does list that along with fuel issues. I would blame the CDI first due to myself having different issues with the stock CDI.
