Rhino, I need convinced
Reply Quote
This is my first post and I am not sure that it is in the right section. Anyway, I was planning on buying a new utility quad soon but now the Rhino has caught my attention. I have had quite a few sport quads but am now looking for a little more practicality. I have 84 acres off hilly wooded land and need something that is fun to ride but can also be a useful work tool. I am finding it hard to believe that the Rhino is as capable as everyone says. What can I really expect from this thing? I want to be able to throw a couple of chainsaws in the back, hook a trailer up to it and go out and cut some fire wood. I don't want to have to worry about getting stuck or being limited in where I can go. Plus my wife wants to be able to get in it and go out hunting for berries/flowers or do some light landscaping (ex: spread bark chips) in the yard. Will I be happy with a 660 Rhino, or should I stick to a utility quad? If I get a side-by-side it will definately be a Rhino. I am still looking for something fun to ride in the nasty trails and I don't think that the other side-by-sides will cut it. Any and all thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

What you say you want, the Rhino will do with ease. I do the same type of thing. I got rid of a Grizzly awhile back and had some of the same concerns prior to purchasing a Rhino. I still have the Rhino and am willing to put it through anything that I would put the Grizzly through and then some. I pull a very heavy trailer with ease and have chain saws, hunting equipment, etc sitting in the bed and the trailer full of firewood. ww

I have a 72 acre farm and the rhino is perfect.I have a pickup I used before the rhino and all it is good for now is gathering dust.I have hooked chains and pulled around trees I have cut down, I have even pulled out my parents polaris ranger out of the mud when they tried to go were I went. The dump bed is great I even use it around the yard for landscaping.I wish the payload on the dump were a little higher but the trade off is great, there is not a utv that is more versatile than the rhino. We also use it to play on the weekends at some atv trails close to the house. The trails are about 7 miles from the house and I drive it to the trails down the main road.I have a BRP chip so top speed is 54 mph, I also have a top with a radio that is great anywhere. My pictures are on gallery 39 if you don't have an idea of what the rhino will do on trails and mud go to the download part of this site, it is unreal!

Last summer my husband and I sold our kodiak and grizzly and bought a rhino. We put 2840 miles on it 4 months. Besides just having fun,we made several trips to a quarry and loaded it up, to the max, with slate, hauling it 25 miles back to camp. In the fall we made several trips for wood, filling up the box of the rhino and pulling a heavy trailor, also full, behind it. My husband also uses it for for plowing snow. He says it's a lot more powerful plowing than the grizzly was (it weighs 450 lbs more), and he really likes the wider plow.
I think your wife would enjoy driving the rhino. Not only is it very comfortable to sit in, it handles like a charm on the road, and you can go just about anywhere, that you can go with a regular 4WD ATV, in the woods. I like that the rhino isn't as wide as some of the other utility vehicles, yet it has a decent ground clearance for getting through difficult terrain. So far, we've only had to use our winch twice. That's good for where we go:-)

My son's four seater mid travel rail broke a trailing arm out at Patton Valley and two of us on Rhinos pulled him all the way back to the Sand Highway.  From that point on just me and my Sport Edition pulled him back to camp.  I'm new here so I don't know how to post a pic, but when I learn I'll post one of the Yamaha Tow Truck.
